I do not own the BMFM I write this for my own entertainment and that
of anyone who would care to read it. The story takes place in the Survivor
Log universe created by Decembergirl. Sarni, Bordeaux and Terrance are her
creations whom I hope one day she will use again if she continues to tell
this wonderful tale.

That's The Way It Is
Story By
Morning 2000
Charley walked the quiet corridors of the base alone. She had just come
from seeing to it that Throttle was comfortably settled down after Terrance
had seen to his injuries. A few cracked ribs some bruises but nothing that
won't heal in time. The kids were with him while the painkillers he was
given helped him sleep.
How close this time? How close did he get to not coming back? How long could
she stand him risking his life? Knowing that one of those times she'd kiss
him goodbye it might be the last time. Her mind tormented by these and other
worries making it feel as if it were going to explode from the over whelming
anxiety.
She walked not knowing where and not really caring finding her self eventually
at the deserted mess hall. It was dim and quiet she took a seat in the far
corner letting her head fall on to her crossed arms that she lay in front
of her on the table.
She didn't release how long she'd been there when a familiar voice called,
"Charley?" The emotionally exhausted human lifted her head to
see Sarni, Harley, and Bordeaux standing around her.
"Shelley called me and told me how upset you where." Sarni comforted
taking a seat next to her and placing an arm around her shoulder.
"How did you know where to find me?" Charley asked her voice filled
with sad frustration.
"Funny the drawing power this place has when you got things on your
mind." Harley chuckles taking the seat on Charlie's other side. "And
we know why. We've all been there. After the mission, after you've buried
them a hundred times, wondered how your life would go on with them. Trying
to understand this is what they have to do. Hoping they understand when
it's our turn. This life isn't easy Charley girl. But I guess we've just
gotten use to handling it or pretending to handle it."
"But I don't know if I can. I don't even know if I can pretend to.
Every time he leaves it tears my heart out. As much as I love him for his
courage I hate him for putting himself in so much danger that I could lose
him. And if I ever lost him I couldn't. I wouldn't.." Charley cries
openly her head falling into her open hands.
Music softly starts playing in the background
Sarni reaches over and gently lifts Charlie's chin up.
Her strong clear voice filling the air.
I can read your mind
And I know your story
I see what you're going through,
Yeah
It's an up hill climb
And I'm felling sorry
But I know it will come to you
Don't surrender
Cause you can win
In this thing called love
Harley and Bordeaux add their voices
When you want it the most
There's no easy way out
When you're ready to go
And your hearts left in doubt
Don't give up on your faith
Loves comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is
Harley takes Charlie's hand and smiles at her
She sings looking into Charlie's eyes
When you question me
For a simple answer
I don't know to say
No
But it's plain to see
If you a stick together
You're gonna find a way
Bordeaux puts her hand on top of Harley's
So don't surrender
Cause you can win
In this thing called love
The three sing in unison
When you want it the most
There's no easy way out
When you're ready to go
And your heart's left in doubt
Don't give upon you faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's way it is
Sarni draws Charley into a sisterly hug singing alone
Charley letting her head rest on Sarni's neck
When life is empty
With no tomorrow
And loneliness starts to call
Sarni's eyes fill with tears
Remembering her own time of lose.
Baby don't worry
Forget your sorrow
Cause love's gonna conquer it all
When you want it the most
There's no easy way out
Harley lays her head on Charlie's shoulder
She joining in
When you're ready to go
And your heart's left in doubt
Bordeaux now holding both Charlie's hands
Joins in as the three sing together
Don't give up on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is.
Charley now join in the singing
When you want it the most
There's no easy way out
When you're ready to go
And your heart's left in doubt
Don't give upon on your faith
Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is
They end in a unison of soft confidence voices of a shared sisterhood the
last thing being heard is Sarni's clear voice.
And that's the way it is.
