Torn

By Hayden

Torn (2 am in Orleans)
Song by Natalie Imbruglia

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry

Hayden sighed and tossed the pictures aside. She didn't know why she tortured herself, looking at them. All they did was remind her that the Rimfire that was standing, arms crossed in front of the moonlit widow was not the Rimfire she had fallen in love with.

This Rim could be cruel and unfeeling to her, he could treat her like dirt and not think a thing of it. Then at other times, he was tender with her. The way he touched her would break her heart. She sighed again and looked at him.

Haydy opened her mouth to say something then closed it again. What was there to say?

She could see his fang in the pale moonlight.

Her brain told her to run. Her heart said stay.

Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know, don't seem to care what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's whats going on, nothing's fine I'm torn

Standing on somewhat shaky legs, Haydy walked to the bathroom door. She was careful not to look at Rimfire. Because if she did, she knew she'd start crying. She put a hand on her stomach and bit her lip.

"I'm gonna take my shower, Rim."

Rimfire turned his head towards her and nodded slightly.

With a sigh, Hayden shut the bathroom door behind her. Turning on the shower, she stood in front of the bathroom mirror waiting for the water to get hot. Looking in the mirror, Hayden was surprised how old she looked. Dark circles rimed her eyes., and her skin looked so pale.

Closing her eyes, she slipped her jeans down her hips, and pulled off her shirt. Opening her eyes again she made a face a herself. On her neck, you could see where Rim's fangs had just broken the skin. Her pale skin was marred by bruises, both from Rim and Damion. Her right forearm still bore the cut from where Rim had feed that night in the church. God that night four days ago seemed so long ago. Years ago it seemed.

She shrived a bit as a cold air came from under the door.

"Rim! Close that dam window!"

Hearing the window slam down she winced a little.

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide-awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn

So I guess the fortune teller's right
Should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
To crawl beneath my veins and now
I don't care, I have no luck, I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things that I can't touch, I'm torn

Hayden slipped out of the rest of her clothes, and stepped into the water. She let out a scream as the scorching water hit her body and stumbled back. She tripped over the edge of the tub and fell to the bathroom floor. Letting out a whimper of pain, Hayden just lay there, trying not to try.

She felt the cold air come from under the door again. For some reason, she couldn't stand the fact he had opened that dam window again. She didn't care if he liked it, or if the cool night air helped him think. She didn't give a dam. She was sick of being cold.

"RIMFIRE SHUT THAT DAMN WINDOW!!" Her voice broke as it echoed through the small bedroom. Tears streamed down her face as she cried.

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide-awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn. Torn.

When she heard the window slam down and the sound of glass breaking, fear raced through Hayden. Before she would have sworn on her soul, that Rimfire would never hurt her. Now she wasn't so sure. Flicking off the bathroom light, Haydy climbed into the shower. She whimpered at the still scorching water, and huddled at the far end of the shower, pulling the curtains. She trembled in fear. Hot tears ran down her face.

There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's going on, nothings right, I'm torn

Rimfire opened the bathroom door, almost tearing it for its hinges. She could hear him growling.

"HAYDEN!??" He growled. "HAYDEN" he's voice held a dangerous edge.

He ripped open the shower curtain, and glared down at her trembling form. His eyes glowed gold, his fangs were down. His eyes held such fury..

Picking her up by the shoulders, he started to shake her, causing Hayden to cry harder. A cry of pain escaped her lips, as the hot water poured over her skin. "Rim..I'm sorry" She cried. She knew she wasn't the one who should be saying sorry. This was his fault. He was the one hurting her.

Suddenly all the rage left his eyes. "oh god" he whispered. He let go of her.
Hayden's fell sobbing to the shower floor, the hot water pouring over her.

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide-awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed bound and broken on the floor
You're a little late, I'm already torn

Rimfire's arm were around her in an instant. Picking her up and carrying her into the bed room. She clung to him, apologizing repeatedly for sins she hadn't committed. Rimfire held her close and laid her down on the bed, curling around her. He stroked her hair, letting her cry. Wishing to god, he could cry too.

"I'm sorry Hayden..oh god I'm sorry.." he whispered, breathing hard as if crying.

Hayden just clung to him crying.
